Terry K. Miller — Founder & CEO, Bahamas Workforce Solutions

1

The Work Ethic Crisis

What began in the public service has spread through the private sector — poor discipline, inconsistent attendance, and the absence of professional standards at every level.

2

The Preparation Gap

Young people enter the workforce without foundational workplace habits. Schools teach subjects. Families do their best. But no one has been systematically preparing people for employment.

3

The National Cost

Poor work ethic costs The Bahamas tourism dollars, construction contracts, foreign investment confidence, and the professional reputation of an entire nation.

How BWS Works

Five steps that change everything

Most agencies stop at step one. BWS completes all five for every candidate, every time.

Register

Job seekers complete our full intake process. Employers submit their staffing needs.

Screen

We assess skills, attitude, document readiness, and work history. Red flags are identified and addressed.

Train

Every candidate completes the BWS Work Ready Certification — 12 modules, professional standards.

Match

We match certified candidates to the right employer in the right role. Fit matters as much as skill.

Support

Day 1, 7, 14, and 30 follow-ups on every placement. We stay involved until stability is confirmed.

Why BWS Is Different

We don't just send applicants. We prepare candidates.

Certified Before Referred

Every BWS candidate has completed our Work Ready Certification Programme before they meet a single employer. Character, discipline, and professional conduct — assessed and trained.

Character Assessment

Skills can be taught in days. Character takes years to form. We screen for attitude, coachability, reliability, and emotional maturity — the things most agencies ignore entirely.

Post-Placement Follow-Up

Traditional agencies disappear after placement. BWS conducts structured follow-ups at Day 1, 7, 14, and 30 — protecting your investment and supporting candidate stability.

14-Day Replacement Guarantee

If a placed candidate leaves for valid performance-related reasons within 14 days, we provide one replacement at no additional placement fee — subject to agreement terms.

Full Documentation

Signed employer agreements. Documented screening. Verified references. Every placement is backed by a paper trail that protects both employer and candidate.

Bahamian by Design

Built specifically for the Bahamian labour market — its opportunities, its challenges, and its culture. Not an imported model. A local solution to a local problem.

Employer Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can BWS provide candidates?

For positions that match our certified candidate pool, we can typically refer suitable candidates within 5–10 business days. For urgent temporary staffing needs, we can often move faster. Turnaround depends on the role, required documents, and current candidate availability.

What does the 14-day replacement guarantee cover?

If a placed candidate leaves or is terminated for valid performance-related reasons within 14 days of starting, BWS will provide one replacement at no additional placement fee — provided the original fee has been paid, the employer notified BWS within 3 days, and the job conditions were not changed after placement. Full terms are in the Employer Service Agreement.

Do employers pay a fee if they don't hire anyone?

No. There is no fee simply for registering or requesting candidates. The placement fee is only triggered when a BWS-referred candidate is hired, engaged, or begins work with the employer. You only pay for results.

What if we need staff in a sector not on your list?

Contact us and we will assess the request. If we have candidates who match the requirements, we will proceed. If not, we will be transparent about our current capacity and recommend a timeline for when we can assist.

Can BWS train our existing staff?

Yes. Our Corporate Training service brings the Work Ready curriculum to your existing workforce. This is ideal for businesses experiencing attitude, punctuality, customer service, or teamwork challenges. Workshops run half-day or full-day at your premises or a designated training venue.

BWS doesn't just find you a job. We prepare you to be the kind of employee every employer wants to hire — and keep.

Each step builds on the last — from honest assessment through certified training to confident placement with an employer who is ready for you.

Training Fees & Payment Options

We believe cost should not be a barrier to opportunity. BWS offers flexible options for every situation.

  • Registration fee: B$20 — Non-refundable. Covers intake, screening, and file creation.
  • Training fee: B$100–200 — Payment plans available. Sponsorship options for qualifying candidates.
  • Placement fee: None — BWS never charges job seekers a placement fee. That cost is on the employer.

Who Should Apply?

BWS works with a wide range of candidates at different stages of their employment journey.

  • Recently unemployed or school leavers
  • Currently employed but seeking better opportunity
  • Returning workers re-entering the job market
  • Young people seeking first formal employment
  • Workers who have struggled to keep positions
  • Individuals referred through BASH or BYBAS

Job Seeker Frequently Asked Questions

Does BWS guarantee me a job?

No. BWS does not guarantee employment. Final hiring decisions are made by employers. What BWS guarantees is that we will prepare you to the highest standard possible, match you to suitable employers, and support you through the process. The rest depends on you showing up prepared and professional.

How long does the training programme take?

The Work Ready Certification Programme can be completed in as little as 5 days (intensive daily format) or over 2–4 weeks in a part-time or weekend format. We run cohorts on a rolling schedule.

What if I cannot afford the training fee?

We offer payment plans and, for qualifying candidates, sponsorship may be available through partner organisations. Contact us and we will discuss the options available to you. We do not want cost to be the barrier between you and employment.

What documents do I need to register?

Government-issued ID, NIB number, any certificates or licences you hold, two references, and a resume if you have one. If you do not have all documents, we will advise you on how to obtain what is missing.

The BWS Story

A national crisis. A deliberate solution.

The decline in Bahamian work ethic is not a recent complaint. It is a decades-long erosion — beginning in the public service, spreading through hospitality and construction, and now touching every sector of the economy.

Every Bahamian businessperson knows this truth: finding workers is not the problem. Finding workers who show up on time, respect their supervisors, care about their customers, and take pride in their work — that is the crisis no one has systematically addressed.

Terry K. Miller spent more than three decades working on the human side of national development — through BASH, through BYBAS, and through decades of social entrepreneurship. He saw the same problem from every angle. And he built the solution.

Bahamas Workforce Solutions exists to close the preparation gap — to take people who are willing and make them ready, and to give employers something they rarely experience: a candidate who was prepared before they walked through the door.

The Mission in Numbers

  • 12 training modules in every certification
  • 5 step placement pipeline
  • 14 day replacement guarantee
  • 30+ years of social development leadership
  • 4 structured post-placement follow-ups
The Ecosystem

One Pipeline within multiple organizations. One ecosystem.

As a social entrepreneur, Terry has aligned these three organizations into a complete human development pathway from personal stabilization to employment and economic independence.

BASH — Bahamas Association for Social Health

Founded 1991 · Non-profit. Addressing social wellness, community resilience, and the personal foundations of human development for over three decades.

BYBAS — Bahamian Youth

Youth development · Non-profit. Building skills, confidence, discipline, and purpose in young Bahamians — preparing them for productive participation in the economy.

BWS — Bahamas Workforce Solutions

Est. 2026 · For-profit. The placement end of the pipeline — screening, certifying, placing, and supporting candidates into sustainable employment with employers who need them.

Terry K. Miller is a social entrepreneur, author, and filmmaker who has spent more than three decades building organizations that address the human dimensions of national development in The Bahamas. He founded BASH in 1991 one of the country's most respected non-profit organizations and has served in leadership roles across civil society, government advisory bodies, and the private sector.

BWS represents the convergence of his social mission and business discipline: a for-profit workforce development company aligned with the organisations he built to serve Bahamian communities. His tenure as Former President of Civil Society Bahamas and his work across BACARI and the GAIN Co-op reflect a career dedicated to systemic, lasting change.

What People Say

Results that speak for themselves

From employers who hire with confidence to graduates who found their path — this is the BWS difference.

HR Manager — Nassau, Hospitality Sector

"The difference between a BWS candidate and someone who just walks in off the street is night and day. They know how to present themselves, they show up on time, and they understand what professional behaviour looks like. That preparation is worth every dollar."

BWS Graduate — Placed in Hospitality, Nassau

"I applied to jobs for months and never got called back. After BWS, I had an interview within two weeks and a job offer by the end of the month. The training changed how I present myself — and how employers see me."

Business Owner — Nassau, Retail Sector

"We have tried other agencies. The follow-up alone sets BWS apart. Knowing someone will check in at Day 7 and Day 30 gives us confidence that problems will be caught and addressed — not ignored."

BWS Graduate — Placed in Security, Nassau

"I thought I knew how to work. The BWS training showed me I had no idea what professional conduct really meant. The conflict resolution module alone has saved my job more than once. I am a different worker now."
